Afonso Alves: Charity auction winner
31/07-2008

Congratulations to Middlesbrough
fan, Alan Murray who will shortly become the proud owner of the shirt in which
Afonso scored his first goals in English football – a double against Manchester
United.
Alan won Afonso’s charity auction with a bid of 300 euros,
which will all be going direct to the locally based Daisy Chain charity, who
support kids with autism.
Afonso will be signing the shirt with a personal dedication
for Alan, who hails from Yarm, Teesside, just down the road from the club.
"I entered the auction as I am a big Boro fan and I collect
shirts signed by the players,” Alan tells Fobazo.
“It was a great opportunity to get a shirt signed by Afonso
Alves and help out a fantastic charity in the process. It was a great surprise
to hear about winning.
Alan has a fine track record of using his passion for Boro
to help a good cause. He and three friends recently did a sponsored slim for
the Middlesbrough Disabled Supporters association.
Between them, they managed to lose 10 stone 9 pounds in just
three months and raised a massive £8000. He is pictured above with his old Boro
shirt, from his less streamlined days.
